Mexico’s largest company uses SMART Board interactive whiteboards to improve productivity
PEMEX incorporates SMART product to enhance collaboration, data sharing and training
CALGARY, Alberta --- June 7, 2006 --- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that PEMEX, Mexico’s state-owned oil company, achieves significant productivity gains with SMART Board™ interactive whiteboards. PEMEX employees use the interactive whiteboards to access computer-based information and shared data during meetings and presentations, and to save digital versions of all related information, including meeting notes. These efficiencies have streamlined communications, collaboration and training across the organization. Internal evaluations demonstrated that SMART products offered a significant return on investment, so the company continues to add SMART products to its offices. PEMEX is Mexico’s largest company and one of the world’s largest petroleum producers, extracting more oil than any company outside the Middle East.
PEMEX has purchased over 100 SMART Board interactive whiteboards since 2003, including both the 3000i and 2000i rear-projection units, and the 500 and 600 series front-projection boards. SMART Board interactive whiteboards have been placed in boardrooms and training rooms of PEMEX offices in Mexico City and five other locations around the country. With this move, the company was able to eliminate a number of old projector units and unnecessary audiovisual equipment, making more efficient use of meeting room space. But ultimately PEMEX decided to adopt the SMART Board interactive whiteboard because of its easy-to-use software and applications, and its interactive design. Employees have used their SMART Board interactive whiteboards at Mexican congress meetings and oil and gas trade shows to deliver more memorable demonstrations of IT solutions for the oil and gas sector. PEMEX receives ongoing support from SMART’s local distributor, VideoNet.
“The installation of SMART Board interactive whiteboards has improved the collaboration and creativity in our internal daily meetings, increased information sharing between employees and suppliers, and improved interaction in our training programs,” says César R. López, control and automation assistant for PEMEX. “The continued support we receive from VideoNet has helped us understand and apply the many functions of our boards.”
“SMART Board interactive whiteboards have become a standard communication tool for an increasing number of business people around the world,” says Nancy Knowlton, president and co-CEO of SMART Technologies Inc. “In embracing our products PEMEX demonstrates its commitment to creating a collaborative, electronic work environment that effectively supports 21st-century knowledge workers.”
